# HPAI spread triggers price increases for eggs | MEAT+POULTRY

> USDA scheduled nearly 7 million commercial chickens and turkeys for euthanasia the week of March 28 after HPAI outbreaks in Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota, including a 5-million-bird layer operation in Osceola, Iowa. Dried egg product prices have more than doubled since early March, and over 17 million birds have been destroyed.
