# Sowing success a mixed bag across eastern states | The Land | NSW

> Cargill AWB reports NSW crop progress is mixed, with early-sown crops developing well while late-sown areas after excessive rain lag behind. Northern NSW has had a dry run allowing final planting, while central NSW has seen further rain delaying progress. Growers face choices about late-sowing winter barley or fallow.
