# Food import disruption expected as Felixstowe port workers strike | News | The Grocer

> Around 2,000 workers at the Port of Felixstowe struck over pay, halting operations at the UK's largest container port. The port handles about half of the country's container traffic, including substantial food imports such as dairy, meat, nuts and rice. Vessels have been rerouted to other busy ports.

## Why it matters

Diverted food imports can add congestion and cost at other UK and continental ports, raising landed costs for feed and food ingredients. The effect on commodity prices is likely limited and temporary.
