# UPDATE 1-Agritel ups French wheat crop estimate, sees maize at 21st-century low

> Consultancy Agritel raised its estimate for France's 2022 soft wheat crop slightly to 33.63 million tonnes, still below the five-year average. It forecast the French maize harvest at 10.8 million tonnes, the smallest of the 21st century, after heatwaves and the worst drought on record. French soft wheat exports were running at an unusually fast pace, fuelled by Black Sea trade disruption.
