> USDA economists say drought is still delaying cattle placements into feedlots and increasing beef cow culling, a trend expected to continue into early 2023. The September feedlot inventory was 11.279 million head, the second-largest for the month on record. USDA raised its Q4 2022 beef production forecast by 105 million pounds because of faster culling.
