# Tasmanian season mirrors mainland's - Grain Central

> Tasmania's wheat crop is forecast at a record 87,200t from 16,000ha, but a slow, wet spring has delayed spring-planted barley and canola by up to a month. Waterlogging has caused disease and delayed fertiliser and fungicide application, though some areas look very good.

## Why it matters

Tasmania is a very small grain producer, so these delays have little effect on global or feed grain prices. The effect is local to the Tasmanian crop.
