# Oil prices slid 2% as dollar firms and central banks hike interest rates

> Oil prices fell about 2% on December 15 as traders worried that a stronger dollar and further rate hikes by global central banks would weaken fuel demand. Brent settled at $81.21 a barrel and WTI at $76.11. The decline followed three straight days of gains.
