# Stronger ringgit likely in near term

> Economists expect the US dollar's three-week decline, driven by weaker US payrolls, lower inflation and negative PPI, to strengthen the ringgit in the near term. CME's chief executive said he sees no strong ringgit swings unless the domestic economy is shocked. Kenanga noted the ringgit had recently weakened past 4.46 per dollar on US debt-ceiling concerns.
