# EU: Major Step For ‘Deforestation-Free’ Trade | Human Rights Watch

> Human Rights Watch welcomed the European Parliament's 19 April vote on the Deforestation-Free Products Regulation, which requires EU companies to ensure imports and exports of wood, palm oil, soy, coffee, cocoa, rubber and cattle are not from land deforested after 31 December 2020. The Council is expected to approve the law in late April.
