# Short-term outlook of agricultural markets: EU farmers keep up production in spite of adverse weather events - Agriculture and rural development

> The European Commission's autumn 2023 short-term outlook says EU farmers kept production up despite hot, dry weather and rainfall surplus over summer, with yields, harvests and quality affected. Input costs for energy, fertilisers and feed continued to decline, and monthly food inflation has eased since July. Meat and wine consumption fell on high prices, and a crisis distillation authorised for wine is helping stabilise that market.
