# Barley market prospects

> Alberta feed barley prices have slipped through the crop year instead of recovering after harvest as seasonal patterns would suggest. Australian barley has regained access to China since the tariff was dropped in August 2023, and Canadian bulk barley exports are running near half of last year's pace. Feedlots in southern Alberta have also contracted US corn imports.
