# Exclusive: Vietnam imports husked brown rice from India for re-exports, sources say

> Vietnam has imported at least 200,000 metric tons of husked brown rice from India between December and February, according to trade and government sources, the first such imports in decades. ## Why it matters

Vietnam sourcing Indian brown rice to re-export adds supply into a tight global market, partly easing shortfalls from India's restrictions, but drawing down Vietnamese stocks keeps upside pressure on rice prices.
