# Due to exceeding quotas, EU returns customs duties on Ukrainian oats | Ukrainian news

> The EU reinstated tariff quotas on Ukrainian oats after imports passed the emergency-brake threshold, with the quota set at 4,000 tons. Imports from early 2024 already exceed that volume, so most-favored-nation tariffs apply until the quota resets on January 1, 2025.

## Why it matters

Higher duties on Ukrainian oats reduce the volume of cheap Black Sea oats reaching EU feed buyers, a small but supportive factor for EU oat prices.
