# Mexico’s new leadership to drop plan for reducing yellow corn imports | World Grain

> Mexico's incoming leadership will not pursue the outgoing president's goal of reducing yellow corn imports, according to agriculture minister Julio Berdegue. Mexico imported 15.3 million tonnes of corn in 2023 and expects to import 14 to 16 million tonnes of yellow corn this year. A final dispute panel report on the GM decree is expected in November.
