# Soybean Complex at a Crossroads as Imports Rise and Exports Weaken by Amit Gupta, Kedia Advisory

> India's kharif soybean planting for 2025-26 fell 4.6% year on year to 120.44 lakh hectares, as farmers shifted land to maize, rice and sugarcane. India imported 3.89 million tonnes of crude soybean oil from November 2024 to August 2025, mostly from Argentina. In September, India bought 300,000 tonnes of soyoil in two trading days after Argentina scrapped export taxes.
