# GrainCorp workers strike at Newcastle port | Newcastle Herald | Newcastle, NSW

> Workers at GrainCorp's Port of Newcastle walked off the job in rolling strikes after rejecting a pay offer they say is below the July minimum wage increase. ## Why it matters

Strikes at Newcastle could slow wheat and grain loading during the run-up to the new marketing year, potentially delaying Australian exports that compete with northern hemisphere supplies. Any prolonged disruption would modestly firm Australian wheat and grain export prices.
