# Kazakhstan restricts rail shipments of grain to the port of Aktau

> Kazakhstan Railways banned acceptance of grain cargo in grain railcars bound for the port of Aktau from October 3 to 11, 2025. The restriction follows limited terminal storage, no fixed vessel departure schedule, and over 600 railcars stuck at the port with 330 more en route.

## Why it matters

Blocked rail access to Aktau constrains Kazakh grain exports through the Caspian route, which may keep some wheat and barley supply stranded inland and modestly firm Black Sea-linked export offers for buyers.
