# Colorado farmers file antitrust lawsuit against Union Pacific

> Thirteen Kansas and Colorado farmers, along with Weskan Grain and Colorado Pacific Railroad, filed an antitrust lawsuit in federal court against Union Pacific and Kansas and Oklahoma Railroad. The complaint alleges a secret interchange fee above $500 per railcar has blocked westbound grain shipments on the Towner Line since 2019.

## Why it matters

High rail fees limit westbound grain movement in western Kansas and eastern Colorado, which can widen local basis and cash price spreads, though the national price effect is small.
