> On September 30, distillate inventories fell 2.3 million barrels to 14% below the five-year average, and retail diesel reached a record $6.53 a gallon. The US Department of Energy offered up to 40 million barrels from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, and the Brent-WTI spread widened to $12.29.
