# Low water on US rivers shifts some export paths | World Grain

> A freeze across the Mississippi and Ohio rivers, on top of drought-driven low water, has cut barge draft capacity and impeded traffic on a key soft red winter wheat route. Kansas State economist Guy Allen said freight costs have risen, lowering interior prices relative to world values, while Gulf corn exports are running at a record pace. St. Louis fell below the 3.2-foot low threshold on Jan. 20-21 before a partial recovery.
