# Avian influenza overview June – September 2022

> EFSA and ECDC report that the 2021–2022 HPAI epidemic was the largest yet seen in Europe, with 2,467 poultry outbreaks and 47.7 million birds culled. Between 11 June and 9 September 2022, 788 further detections were reported across 16 European countries, including mass seabird mortality.
