# Nigeria launches FAO-supported project to address outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza

> Nigeria and the FAO launched a USD 350,000 technical cooperation project to contain highly pathogenic avian influenza. The project will strengthen surveillance, diagnostics, biosecurity in farms and live bird markets, and risk communication. Nigeria has nearly 600 million poultry.
