# RHB: Indonesia's Tax Changes Could Weaken Malaysia's Palm Oil Edge

> RHB Research says Malaysia's competitiveness in downstream palm oil products will fall because of Indonesia's fixed 7.5% CPO export tax, which replaced a graduated scale in September 2024. The change lets Indonesian planters capture higher effective CPO prices. Domestic market obligation price revisions are also expected to support Indonesian planter selling prices.
