# EIA expands data coverage of biofuels in our Monthly Energy Review -

> The EIA began publishing expanded monthly data on biofuels other than ethanol, splitting out biodiesel, renewable diesel and other biofuels. The data show record renewable diesel output of 1.7 million barrels in July 2021 and 7.8 million barrels in the first half of 2021.

## Why it matters

Better data on renewable diesel output improves visibility into vegetable oil demand from biofuels. It is a data release, so it does not on its own move prices.
