# Argentina soy dollar scheme unlikely to repeat success

> Argentina relaunched its soy dollar scheme in late November, allowing soybeans to trade at 230 pesos per dollar against an official rate of about 171. Trade under the scheme has started slowly, with 2.98mn t traded since 28 November versus 8.48mn t in the equivalent period of the September round. Sales are expected to remain slow until the scheme ends on 31 December as farmers hold stocks to hedge peso losses.
