# USDA yield shocker sends corn sinking to 8-week low

> USDA's October Crop Production report raised its 2026 U.S. corn yield estimate to 181.2 bpa from 178.5 in September, above analyst expectations of about 177.7. The soybean yield was lifted to a record 53.1 bpa. Corn futures fell more than 20 cents to an eight-week low, while soybeans initially dropped before closing higher.
