China's yuan eased slightly on Monday after rallying more than 1% against the dollar the prior week. The PBOC scrapped a 20% reserve requirement on FX forward settlement and lifted reserve requirements for offshore yuan deposits.
The official midpoint was set at 6.4997, beyond the 6.5 level for the first time since May 2016.
Easing capital-outflow curbs and the stronger midpoint signal authorities are wary of rapid yuan appreciation. For feed buyers, a firmer yuan can modestly weigh on import costs for Chinese feed demand but the effect on grain prices is limited.
