The WA Department of Agriculture and Food expects WA milling oat production could settle near one million tonnes over the next five years. Processing investments by UniGrain, Quaker Oats and CBH underpin the outlook, with the CBH Forrestfield mill expected to be fully operating by the 2018 harvest.
Expanding milling capacity shifts demand for WA oats away from low-value feed use, which supports prices for milling-quality grain and reduces the pool of oats sold at feed values.
