Sorghum values in south Queensland rose about $10 a tonne the week to February 19, with Darling Downs bids at $354 delivered and Brisbane at $362. Harvest yields are coming in near three tonnes a hectare, below pre-harvest expectations of 3.5, and high screenings from a hot, dry finish are cutting grade.
Lower Australian sorghum output and quality issues tighten feed-grain supply for domestic feedlots and mills, supporting sorghum prices and encouraging substitution toward corn or barley.
