Soybean growers are funding checkoff-backed tests of higher biodiesel blends such as B30, B40 and B50 across on-road and off-road engines. The National Biodiesel Board says biodiesel can add about 63 cents per bushel to growers' returns.
If higher blends become approved, they would add soybean oil demand and support the crush margin. The testing is at an early stage, so the price effect is limited for now.
