The US dollar index rose after the Federal Reserve cut interest rates, and the State Bank of Vietnam's central rate was 23,142 VND per USD on September 22. Commercial bank quotes moved by only about 10 dong.
A firmer dollar after the Fed cut raises the local-currency cost of dollar-priced feed imports at the margin. The move is small and mostly reflects routine currency trading.
