Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum signed a constitutional reform banning GM corn cultivation after a USMCA panel ruled against Mexico's 2023 decree. The government dropped three parts of the decree that limited GM corn imports but kept the cultivation ban and glyphosate phase-out.
Import restrictions were removed, so the direct effect on US corn exports is limited, but the cultivation ban keeps long-term uncertainty over Mexican demand for US GM corn.
