India is likely to permit exports of 5 lakh metric tonnes of organic aata, according to government sources cited by Business Today. It would be the first major relaxation in wheat-based product exports after more than three years of restrictions, and is seen as the first step in a phased reopening.
A phased reopening starting with organic aata would add modest export demand for Indian wheat products, a mildly bullish factor for wheat. The initial volume is small, so price impact should be limited.
