Mexico's meat industry group aims to double beef exports to the US next year, after exports rose about 23% in the first four months of 2026. The US border has been closed to Mexican livestock for about a year because of a screwworm outbreak.
Fresh meat makes up most of the exports.
Higher Mexican beef exports add some supply to the US market, but they do not replace the lost live cattle imports, so the effect on cattle prices is limited.
