A Minnesota House committee was told the state's three biodiesel plants can produce 63 million gallons a year, enough for the current B10 blend. That capacity would also cover the B20 mandate scheduled for May 1, 2018, if consumption holds.
State officials must still confirm feedstock and infrastructure readiness before B20 takes effect.
A move to B20 would raise soybean oil demand for biodiesel in Minnesota, but the increase is still a year away and subject to approval.
