Renewable Fuels Association CEO Bob Dinneen sent a letter to EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt asking that the 2018 Renewable Fuel Standard volume rulemaking stay on schedule. The group also asked that the conventional requirement remain at the statutory 15 billion gallons, noting ethanol output is on pace for a record 16 billion gallons in 2017.
A firm 15 billion gallon conventional requirement supports ethanol output and corn grind demand, which underpins corn prices. Any delay or cut to the volume target would weaken that demand outlook.
