The EIA reported a 288 Bcf natural gas storage withdrawal for the week ending January 19, above the roughly 272 Bcf trade estimate. Prompt-month futures nonetheless lost ground after an early-week rally.
A larger-than-expected draw tightens US storage, but futures sold off, so the market treated the surprise as already priced in. Gas-linked input costs stay firm but without a clear new trend.
