R-CALF USA's board voted unanimously to urge President Trump to impose tariffs on cattle, beef, sheep and lamb imports from countries with large trade surpluses with the US. LMIC director James Robb said the case is more complicated and must be assessed country by country.
A proposed tariff on livestock and meat imports would tighten US supply and support domestic cattle and lamb prices, but the call is a lobbying request without a policy decision.
