Mexico's Official Gazette-related decree, released on CONAMER's website, confirms a phase-out of glyphosate use over four years and of GMO corn for human consumption by 2024. An organic producers' group welcomed the proposal but asked for a glyphosate-free label.
This is a follow-up to the earlier draft on the same proposal, reinforcing the expected long-run decline in Mexican demand for GE corn for food use. The near-term price impact is modest because it mainly concerns food uses and the phase-out runs to 2024.
