Mexico announced a ban on genetically modified corn imports by 2024, and officials confirmed in January that it covers feed corn as well as food corn. The U.S. typically ships about 15 million tonnes of corn to Mexico annually, worth roughly US$2.7 billion.
Losing Mexico, the top U.S. corn export market and mainly a feed buyer, would weigh on U.S. corn export demand and prices unless other buyers absorb the volume.
