Statistics Canada cut its canola harvest estimate to 18.17 million tonnes, below the earlier figure and below market expectations of 19.2 million. It also lifted oat output to a 51-year high, while wheat production was trimmed to 33.82 million tonnes.
A smaller canola crop supports oilseed meal values, while the larger oat crop pressures oat prices and the wheat cut adds modest support to grain markets.
