The European Commission began pilot testing of its Deforestation Information System today, running through the end of January with 100 stakeholders. The system will help operators submit due diligence statements under the EU Deforestation Regulation covering cattle, cocoa, coffee, palm oil, rubber, soya and wood.
Compliance infrastructure for EUDR is moving toward the end-2024 application date, raising traceability costs for soy, palm oil and cattle exporters to the EU. Price impact is gradual and mainly a premium/compliance cost rather than a supply shock.
