The yuan rose to a one-week high against the dollar, supported by a strong central bank fixing of 7.0833 that was 308 pips firmer than Reuters' estimate. Soft US private-sector jobs data also weighed on the dollar.
Dollar weakness and a firmer yuan can ease the cost of Chinese imports of US feed ingredients. The effect is small compared with direct supply factors.
