The European Parliament is scheduled to vote on targeted simplification proposals for the EU Deforestation Regulation during its 24-27 November plenary. The changes include transitional periods, IT system improvements, and possible reduced obligations for micro and small operators and downstream traders.
The law covers cocoa, coffee, palm oil, soy, wood, rubber, charcoal, printed paper and cattle products.
Easing compliance requirements lowers near-term pressure on EU-bound soy and palm oil supply chains, which removes a potential premium for verified deforestation-free volumes. Buyers should expect softer compliance-driven price differentials for these inputs.
