An extreme heat wave with warnings across much of the central and eastern U.S. began around June 20 and is expected to be relatively short-lived. Heat is arriving before most corn reaches pollination, which reduces potential yield loss.
Heat stress during the weeks before pollination can lower corn plant performance and yield potential, adding some weather premium. Because the heat is short-lived and early, the price effect is likely limited.
