September natural gas futures climbed 30.2 cents to close at $2.101 per million Btu after a revised forecast showed hotter weather in the second week of August. Rising LNG feedgas demand and a slight drop in production also supported the rally.
The front-month contract had not traded above $2 in three months.
A revised hot weather outlook and stronger LNG feedgas demand point to tighter gas supply, which raises input costs for nitrogen fertilizer and ethanol. These costs can filter into corn and DDGS pricing.
