# Cargill Commits More Than $130 Million to Expand Poultry Operations in Thailand and the Philippines

*Cargill is investing more than USD 130 million over two years to expand and modernise poultry processing, feed production, grain storage, and farming infrastructure in Thailand and the Philippines, targeting rising global demand for high-quality protein.*

Cargill is committing more than USD 130 million over the next two years to expand and modernise its poultry operations across Asia, with major projects planned in Thailand and the Philippines, according to an announcement reported by theagrifooddata.com citing BusinessWire.

The investment programme covers poultry processing, automation, artificial intelligence integration, grain storage, feed production, hatcheries, and broiler and breeder farms, creating what the company describes as a more integrated supply network across the region.

## Thailand: New Production Line, AI Integration and Grain Storage

Thailand is described as a major focus of the programme, serving as an important poultry export hub supplying cooked poultry products to customers in Japan, Europe, Asia and North America. A central element of the Thai investment is the installation of a new automated cooked chicken production line at Cargill's poultry processing plant in Saraburi, which is expected to be completed in 2028.

Cargill says it expects its expanded Thai operations to increase total cooked poultry production to approximately 160,000 metric tons and to generate around THB 25 billion in annual export value for Thailand. More than 300 jobs are expected to be created in connection with the Thai expansion.

The company also plans to integrate artificial intelligence into data processing to support faster operational decision-making, alongside the introduction of advanced machinery designed to optimise production processes and manage costs.

Separately, Cargill is constructing a 30,000-metric-ton grain silo in Thailand to strengthen raw material storage capabilities. Following its groundbreaking earlier this year, the facility is expected to be completed by early 2027. The company says the silo could support demand for agricultural commodities outside the conventional harvest season, potentially creating additional income opportunities for local farmers.

## Philippines: New Feed Mill and Expanded Farming Network

In the Philippines, one of the major projects is the construction of a new feed mill with an annual production capacity of 190,000 metric tons, expected to be completed by late 2027. The facility is intended to increase feed production capacity and strengthen the availability of a critical input for poultry farming. The project is expected to create more than 100 jobs.

Cargill is also expanding its network of hatcheries, breeder farms and broiler farms in the Philippines to improve supply and cost efficiencies throughout the production chain. The investments are intended to support the company's domestic foodservice customers and its retail poultry business under its Tip-Top brand.

## Executive Comment

Watcharapon Prasopkiatpoka, Vice President and Managing Director, Poultry APAC at Cargill, was quoted as saying that demand for high-quality protein is continuing to increase across international markets, while customers are seeking partners that can support their growth through reliable products and innovation. The executive emphasised the company's focus on infrastructure, technology and people as part of its long-term approach to meeting protein demand.
